Issue #309 - October 2008
Watch TV or read the news lately, and it seems that “green” is everywhere. Green flooring, green appliances, green cars, even green homes - it’s no wonder that some of us are already suffering from green fatigue. Considering this, it’s easy to develop a healthy dose of skepticism when it comes to going green in your own home.

The message that often gets lost in all this green mania is that it’s usually greener - and cheaper - to reuse or

recycle an existing component of your home than to buy a new product. After all, what’s less green than throwing something in a landfill? With that in mind, we’d like to help you take a green approach to your DIY and home improvement projects. We’ll start by sharing some easy, creative ways that you can reuse, repurpose, or otherwise breathe new life into existing areas of your home.

Of course, we also understand that sometimes you need or just want something new when improving your home. So we'll show you some of your best-looking, cheapest options - which also happen to be environmentally friendly - for every room. In many cases, the greenest option is also the one that will save you the most money, which always gives you extra incentive to go green.

Along the way, we'll also dispel some green myths, and show you what kind of impact you can have on the environment "by the numbers."
