ARTICLE: Shop Storage &
Panel Cutting Workstation

In the planning phase of the garage shop, there were a number of goals - two of which were storage for tools and supplies, and a worksurface large enough to handle sheet goods.

Problem was, both needs could gobble up precious space. So our workstation includes compact storage cabinets and a top with a pull-out arm to support large panels.
Manufactured Cabinetry - Six "upper" cabinets from a home center addressed the storage needs. The advantage of installing store-bought cabinets is obvious - it’s quick and easy. Four of the cabinets, arranged in pairs, support the worksurface. The other two cabinets are mounted to the wall above the station.

Space-Saving Storage - These cabinets are only 12" in depth (compared to 20"-deep base cabinets). This keeps the workstation from crowding the garage, yet the shallow cabinets offer plenty of tool and accessory storage.
